Orthodontic treatment is one of the most important investments you can make for yourself or your child. Beyond a beautiful smile, there are numerous benefits to having straight teeth and a proper bite relationship, including a reduced risk for tooth decay, tooth wear, and joint discomfort. Here at Timock Family Orthodontics, we hear from people every day who are interested in treatment, but are hesitant to schedule a consultation because they are not sure what to expect.
We understand that the unknown can be overwhelming, but we want you to feel comfortable seeking out the care you need. Our expert team is dedicated to providing every potential patient with personalized service that begins the moment you contact our office! In order to help you understand a bit more about how the orthodontic process works, let’s take a look at what you can expect from your first visit with us, and what the next steps will be should you choose to move forward with treatment.
Your Initial Consultation
First impressions are important for a reason! We do our best to make your initial visit with us a rewarding and stress-free experience. When you arrive at either of our two conveniently located offices in Fort Collins and Windsor, you will be greeted warmly and given a brief tour to help you feel more comfortable with your surroundings. After getting information on your medical and dental history, we will proceed to the diagnostic records and exam. Part of this will involve taking photographs of your teeth in their present state. We may also choose to do a series of radiographs during this visit that allow us to evaluate both skeletal and dental relationships, including any teeth that have not yet erupted.
Once we have all the necessary images, you will meet Dr. Adam Timock for a thorough orthodontic examination. During this exam, he may also ask you a few questions, such as whether your jaws make noise when you open or close your mouth, or if there are any obvious problems when you chew or swallow.
We want you to feel confident in every aspect of the treatment process. We will typically discuss the following topics with you once your exam is complete. This appointment is also the best time to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
- Any oral issues you are experiencing
- What treatment options are available to correct the problem
- The benefits of orthodontic treatment
- The urgency of any recommended treatment
- If any teeth will need to be removed
- An estimate of how long we expect your treatment to take
- The total investment required for treatment
- Any payment or financing options we have available to you
At Timock Family Orthodontics, we take your unique needs, daily routine, and individual treatment goals into account in order to create a treatment plan that is customized just for you. This individualized approach to high-quality care is what allows us to produce superior results in an efficient manner and deliver a positive orthodontic experience for patients.
Investing in a Healthier Smile
Every patient will respond to treatment in their own way, so the total cost of treatment will always be variable. During your consultation, we will break down all the applicable treatment fees and ensure you understand them before scheduling any treatment.
Our team believes that everyone deserves a healthy smile! Finances should never be an obstacle to the orthodontic care you need. That is why our office offers a wide range of payment options, including flexible, interest-free payment plans, cash, checks, and credit cards. We also work with many insurance providers, and are happy to review your policy with you to help you maximize any and all orthodontic benefits.
The Next Step in Your Orthodontic Journey
Once your initial consultation is complete, we will help you schedule an appointment for you to come back and begin your orthodontic journey. After your appliances are delivered, you can expect to see us for follow-up visits every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your course of treatment. At these appointments, Dr. Timock will monitor how your teeth are moving, adjust your appliances, and check that treatment is progressing in an efficient manner.
These visits are an essential part of your orthodontic treatment. For that reason, we encourage you to cancel or reschedule your appointment only if it is absolutely necessary. However, we know that life happens and sometimes it is unavoidable. In those cases, we politely request that you let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule your appointment at a more convenient time.
You should also continue regular check-ups with your family dentist at least every six months throughout orthodontic treatment. If extra dental care is needed at any point, we can coordinate with your dentist to make sure you are receiving the best possible dental care.
